Framing Facets of Social Participation: Older Adults’ Experiences of “Social Online Meetings”

Promoting health among older adults is vital due to increasing elderly populations. This study explored how older adults experience social online meetings, revealing that such interventions enhance social participation, provide new perspectives on daily activities, encourage personal development, and inspire change. Interviews with seven participants highlighted the importance of understanding and incorporating older adults’ needs in designing effective online health-promoting interventions. Given these findings, occupational therapists and other health and social care professionals should prioritise promoting social participation in group interventions.
