Long COVID poses a global challenge for healthcare systems and social support structures. Due to diagnostic challenges and the lack of standardised guidelines, understanding how healthcare providers manage affected individuals is crucial. Many long haulers experience severe and fluctuating symptoms, disrupting their engagement in meaningful occupations and fulfilling social roles. A qualitative study among seven occupational therapists in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria underscores the complex challenges in enhancing long haulers’ participation in daily activities within occupational therapy settings. The study suggests that focusing on occupation, client life situations, and contextual factors in therapeutic interventions can be beneficial.
