Optimal Tai Chi Forms in Knee Osteoarthritis: An Exploration From Biomechanical Rationale to Pain Reduction

This pilot study investigated the effectiveness of a two-week program using four optimal tai chi forms (OTC) in reducing knee pain among individuals with knee osteoarthritis (OA). Fifteen participants with knee OA underwent the OTC training, resulting in a significant reduction in knee pain levels as assessed by the Visual Analogue Scale. The study suggests that the OTC program may be more effective in alleviating knee pain compared to traditional tai chi programs. These findings support further exploration and clinical trials to establish the efficacy, safety, and optimal duration of OTC-based interventions for managing knee OA pain.
