Remote Versus Face-to-Face Fall Risk Assessment in Home Dwelling Older Adults

Falls are a leading cause of severe injury and death among older adults. Remote screening of fall risk could help prevent falls and enhance the health and wellness of this population. With remote healthcare becoming increasingly common, it’s important to determine if remote evaluations of fall risk are as reliable as face-to-face (FTF) assessments. This study’s findings highlight the promise of remote fall risk assessment for older adults. Early detection of fall risk through remote evaluations, paired with timely physical therapy referrals, can significantly reduce falls, improve quality of life and independence, and ultimately promote healthy ageing.
