Spasticity, marked by uncontrolled and heightened muscle tone and exaggerated tendon reflexes, is a common symptom in various neurological disorders such as stroke, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, and spinal cord injuries. Research indicates that massage therapy can significantly reduce abnormal muscle tone and spasticity. When combined with stretching exercises, massage interventions notably decrease muscle stiffness and improve the range of motion in patients with spasticity.
