Home Versus Day Rehabilitation: A Randomised Controlled Trial

Stroke, cardiac, respiratory, hip fracture, and older patients may not receive adequate time for functional recovery, as a result of shorter hospital stays.  Home rehabilitation and outpatient hospital care are now the norm to support early discharge.  But which program poses better results?  Researchers in Australia conducted a randomised trial to find out.   Although delivering fewer therapy sessions, the home rehabilitation program yielded comparable functional improvements while reducing the likelihood of readmission.
