Role of Music Therapy in Improving Cognitive Function Post-traumatic Brain Injury: A Systematic Review

Cognitive deficits are common in patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI).  Music therapy shows promise as an intervention for improving cognitive function in these patients. This review examined the effects of music therapy on cognition in TBI patients by analysing experimental trials from various databases.  Five studies, involving 122 TBI patients met the inclusion criteria.  The methodological quality of the studies varied but generally showed positive effects of music therapy on executive function after TBI.
